Nearly 20% of mental health patients wait over 3 months for treatment

Three times longer than NHS objectives, over a quarter of individuals with mental health conditions are now waiting more than 12 weeks to begin treatment.

According to the Royal College of Psychiatrists, some people reach such a breaking point that they call 999 or visit A&E. (RCP).

To address a lack of psychiatrists, the institution is asking for medical school enrollment to increase from 7,000 to 15,000 students by 2029.

Wait times will continue to lengthen until more experts were educated, according to Dr. Kate Lovett, director of recruiting for the RCP.
