NATO’s cyber defence exercise begins in Estonia

Cyber Coalition 22, one of the world’s largest cyber defense exercises, kicked out on Monday (28 November 2022), bringing together over 1,000 cyber defenders from 26 Allies, Finland and Sweden, Georgia, Ireland, Japan, Switzerland, the European Union, and industry and academia. Over the course of five days, participants will learn to respond to real-world cyber threats, such as cyber-attacks on power grids, programs, and NATO and Allied assets during operations, thereby enhancing their capacity to defend networks and collaborate in cyberspace.

Cyber Coalition 22 offers a one-of-a-kind environment for collaboration, experimentation, experience exchange, and the development of best practices. Individual participants, as well as their organizations, governments, and NATO, increase their cyber resilience through collaboration.

Cyber Coalition is a NATO exercise that has been planned for years and has been held annually since 2008. It occurs in Tallinn, Estonia, and remotely from national capitals and other sites.

Cyberdefense is a fundamental aspect of NATO’s collective defense. At the Madrid Summit in June 2022, NATO Allies pledged to increase their cyber defense capabilities and cooperation with business and other critical stakeholders, including as the EU.
