NATO Secretary General convenes a meeting of the Conference of National Armaments Directors

Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at NATO Headquarters, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg held an exceptional meeting of the Conference of National Armaments Directors (CNAD).

The meeting focused on the ramifications of Russia’s war against Ukraine, especially its effect on the capabilities and weapons stockpiles of the Allies.

The Secretary-General urged allies to begin stockpiling as quickly as possible. “Enhancing NATO stockpiles will ensure we can keep supporting Ukraine,” he said.

“We need to keep working together as NATO Allies and with industry to replenish our munitions stocks and provide Ukraine with the support it needs, for as long as Ukraine needs it,” he added.

The discussion discussed how the Allies might better comprehend any deficiencies in their stockpiles and solve them together.

The goal of the CNAD is to facilitate the delivery of interoperable military capabilities via collaboration. It assures that NATO forces have access to cutting-edge capabilities at all times.
