Naomi Osaka, a Japanese professional tennis player, has announced her first pregnancy.
The Women’s Tennis Association recognized the 25-year-old as the number one singles player in the world, and she took to social media to update her followers on her journey to motherhood.
She added, “The past few years have been, to say the least, interesting, but I find that the most difficult times in life are often the most enjoyable.”
“These few months away from the sport have given me a new appreciation and passion for the game I’ve devoted my life to. I know that I have so much to look forward to in the future, and one of those things is having my child watch one of my matches and say, “That’s my mom!”
“Because I recognize that life is so brief, I do not take any moment for granted. Each day brings a fresh bounty and adventure. 2023 will be a year full of learning for me, and I want to see you all at the beginning of the following year, since I’ll be at the Australia Open in 2024.”
