Nancy Pelosi leads G7 talks on Russia’s incursion in Berlin

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi demanded that Russia be held accountable for the ‘atrocities’ her forces committed in Ukraine and suggested that frozen Russian assets be utilized to reconstruct the nation.

Pelosi made her remarks during a G7 conference of speakers in Berlin, where she inadvertently disclosed that she was planned a trip to Armenia and lauded the billions of dollars in U.S. aid to Ukraine.

She stated, “Russia must be held accountable for the horrors it is doing against children, using rape as a weapon of war, starvation as a tool of war, and so on.”

‘And it was heartening to learn that Ukraine is documenting the crimes against humanity that are occurring there now,’ she continued, referring to the investigations conducted after the Russians were expelled from Buccha and other cities.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated on Friday, prior to her meeting with Germany’s foreign minister, that Russia must be held accountable for the horrors it is committing against young children.

She said after Ukraine had made significant territorial advances by slicing through Russian defenses in the country’s northeast and south.

It was her most significant diplomatic remark since her trip to Taiwan, which enraged Beijing and spurred China to start a series of military exercises and other actions deemed ‘provocative’ by the United States.

She also committed the U.S. and its partners to the reconstruction of Ukraine, which has been blasted by Russian munitions, often ‘dumb’ bombs rather than precision weaponry, as well as what appear to be targeted infrastructure strikes.

‘And Ukraine must be rebuilt. In Congress, we’ve had “seize and freeze” in the House. Seize the assets – the Russian assets – and freeze them before using them to rebuild Ukraine. It will require a large sum of money. Hopefully, the guns will fall silent soon, but we must be prepared for when they do,’ she said.

Annalena Baerbock, the German Foreign Minister, met with Pelosi during the G7 Speakers Summit.

Also present were Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk, German Bundestag President Barbel Bas, and European Parliament President Roberta Metsola.

She stated that there is’solidarity in the G7′ and ‘enthusiasm to do all necessary’ and cited votes in Congress for total assistance of $50 billion.

The Pentagon announced on Friday that since February, military support had surpassed $15 billion.

Pelosi was asked whether she would urge her own government to do more and Germany to assume a “leadership role.”

Germany garnered attention when it announced it would break with postwar custom and send military aid abroad, but Ukraine has also criticized Germany for its delayed delivery times.

In her statement, Pelosi did not mention Germany, where she was speaking.

‘Thank you for your query. And this allows me to recognize the leadership of our President, Vice President Biden. He is personally concerned about the situation in Ukraine on a daily and hourly basis,’ she said, referencing the $50 billion in help.

We are all aware that Ukrainians are struggling to protect not only their democracy but also ours. As I’ve said, it’s a tiny price to pay for us as we go about our business and worry about the cost of energy and other costs,’ she said.

After fighting between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh, Pelosi was asked about her Saturday travel to Armenia, where she reportedly plans to investigate a two-day cease fire.

“I was unaware that my trip arrangements were available to the public.” Oh, you heard my words. Okay, fair enough. In any case, we will be traveling to Armenia tomorrow due to an ongoing invitation from the Armenians,’ she stated. She declined to reveal the specifics of her visit.
