In Nairobi, Kenya, a religious cult has been discovered, having brainwashed and starved several members, resulting in the deaths of four people from starvation, while 11 others were hospitalized.
The cult was led by local pastor Makenzie Nthenge, who previously convinced parents to kill their newborns.
He works at the ironically named Good News International Church, and his brainwashing resulted in these members being taken into a forest and starved to death.
Discovery of the Cult
The discovery of the cult occurred when a member of the group, identified as Karume Fondo, fled the site and reported the incident to the police.
Fondo was freed after paying a bond and reportedly brainwashed more people into joining the cult.
The police report stated that there is a mass shallow grave of brainwashed victims totaling 31 bodies in an unidentified place at Shakahola Forest within Langobaya in Malindi sub-county.
Rescue Operation and Investigation
When police arrived at the scene, four bodies were found, and several others were in poor condition.
The police had called in medics from Malindi to assist in the evacuation, but sadly, four people died during the rescue operation.
Witnesses claim that young children were among the group that fled to the forest, but it is not clear how many.
Manhunt and Additional Mass Graves
The pastor was arrested once this month, but he is now on the run after being freed on bond, and he was not found at the site when police arrived.
Another mass grave is also believed to be in the area, with a search taking place to locate it.
It has been claimed that the pastor had previously brainwashed two parents into killing their own children to make them “heroes” in the eyes of God.
The children, believed to be babies, were then placed in a shallow grave.
