Musk will alter voting procedures after resignation poll on Twitter

After a majority of respondents to one of Elon Musk’s polls concluded that the Twitter CEO should resign and allow someone else to lead the firm, Musk stated that he intends to change the voting rules.

Musk, whose fondness for Twitter polls may be second only to his fondness for posting memes, asked Twitter followers on Sunday if he should resign as CEO and said he would abide by the findings. 57% of the 17 million people who voted indicated that he should.

Musk then tweeted, “As the adage goes, be careful what you wish for, because you may get it.”

Musk had previously conducted a poll regarding the reinstatement of former President Donald. The “yes” vote garnered 51.8% of the vote.

“The public has spoken. Trump will return to office. Musk tweeted at the time, “Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” a Latin term meaning “the voice of the people, the voice of God.””

After a prohibition on links to other social media networks outraged users, the billionaire swore not to make significant policy changes to Twitter without conducting surveys.

Some users responded to the CEO poll by alerting Musk that polls are prone to manipulation by automated software. One commenter recommended that only paying Twitter subscribers should be permitted to vote in polls, arguing that “we have skin in the game.”

Only blue subscribers should be permitted to vote in policy-related surveys. We have actual stake in the outcome.

Musk responded, “Good point,” Twitter will bring about this change.

Valid point. Twitter will make this modification.

Musk’s plan to overhaul the money-losing company and reduce its dependency on advertisements includes the premium subscription service Twitter Blue.

Musk has not provided an official response to the topic of whether he will resign. The billionaire, who also oversees Tesla and SpaceX, has complained about the difficulties of running the company, which he purchased for $44 million after a lengthy legal struggle this year.

“You must invest your life money in Twitter, and since May it has been on the fast track to bankruptcy,” he stated.

“There is no replacement”

Later, he wrote, “No one wants the responsibility of maintaining Twitter’s existence. There is no replacement.”

Twitter blocked several accounts that track celebrity private jets using publicly available information, including the popular account ElonJet, which tracked Musk’s private plane.

Musk asserted that such conduct constituted doxxing, or the disclosure of a person’s identifying information. Twitter restricted links to competing social media websites, including Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Tribel, Nostr, Post, and former President Donald Trump’s Truth Social, shortly thereafter. Twitter did not explain why these seven websites were included on the ban and not others such as Parler, TikTok, or LinkedIn.

Twitter stated that it would temporarily suspend accounts that contain blacklisted websites in their profiles, but the practice is so popular that it would have affected millions of Twitter users worldwide.

The notable venture entrepreneur Paul Graham, who has previously lauded Musk, informed his 1.5 million Twitter followers on Sunday that this was the “final straw” and to find him on Mastodon. Graham’s Twitter account was immediately suspended and quickly reinstated when Musk pledged to overturn the policy established just hours prior.
