It was feared the death toll could rise as images showed rescuers in a desperate search for survivors in the rubble of a nine-storey block of flats that was hit.

A woman, 31 and her daughter, three, were killed in the city of Dnipro, according to the local mayor.

There were also explosions reported in the cities of Kremenchuk and Poltava.

Air raid sirens sounded around Kyiv in the first attack against the city in nearly two months.

Twenty-one out of 23 missiles and two attack drones were shot down by Ukraine’s air defence system, across the country, officials said in a Telegram post.

The attacks come as Ukrainian forces are preparing for a military offensive with new equipment, including tanks, supplied by Western allies.

More than 30,000 troops are estimated to make up the new brigades. “

This will put Ukraine in a strong position to continue to retake occupied territory,” Stoltenberg said in Brussels.

Analysis:

The missile strikes launched by Russia in Ukraine have resulted in the deaths of civilians, including a mother and her young daughter.

The attack is a blatant violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

It is a continuation of the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which began in 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine.

Since then, the conflict has escalated, and thousands of people have been killed.

The recent missile strikes indicate that the situation in the region remains unstable and that the threat of further violence is still present.

The fact that Ukraine’s air defense system managed to shoot down most of the missiles and drones is a testament to the country’s military capabilities.

However, the death toll and the destruction caused by the attacks highlight the need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

The recent missile strikes by Russia are a stark reminder of the urgency of the situation and the need for immediate action to prevent further violence.
