Minister of State for Health charges the newly appointed Medical Director of the National Orthopaedic Hospital Enugu (NOHE) to improve on the achievements of his predecessors

The newly appointed Medical Director of the National Orthopaedic Facility Enugu (NOHE) has been urged by the honourable Minister of State for Health, Hon. Joseph Ekumankama, to build on the accomplishments of his predecessors in order to ensure continuity and the efficient operation of the hospital.

On Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at the Minister of State’s Conference Room, Federal Ministry of Health, Abuja, Hon. Ekumankama delivered a letter of appointment to Dr. Emmanuel Chino Iyidobi as the substantive Medical Director of NOHE, for an initial term of four (4) years with effect from July 6, 2022.

While congratulating the MD, the Minister of State for Health mentioned that he had seen instances where people were appointed in an acting capacity but never had the chance to be confirmed.

“It is a thing of joy that you have been confirmed and i expect that the entire management and staff of the hospital will see the much desired change. I want to believe that you will work hard to ensure that the hospital continues to provide quality healthcare services”.

Hon. Ekumankama continued by reminding the MD of the serious obligations that came with the job and the high standards that the state’s government and citizens had for him. He urged him to build on the accomplishments made by his predecessors and to demonstrate the trust placed in him by collaborating with all parties and placing staff welfare first for the best possible service delivery in support of Mr. President’s Next Level Agenda of reorganising the health-sector in order to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

The newly appointed MD, NOHE, Dr. Emmanuel Iyidobi, thanked the President and the Ministry of Health for recognising his qualifications for the position. By establishing an inclusive leadership that will assure great patient care, staff welfare, and hospital progress while building on what his predecessors have done, he promised to take seriously the president’s goal for the health sector. He committed to working in accordance with the National Strategic Health Development Plan (NSHDP) to ensure that Nigerians receive high-quality treatments at the most affordable price.

Dr. Iyidobi previously served in a number of leadership roles at the hospital, including Chairman of the Institute of Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery Development Committee, Chairman of the Pressure Treatment and Prevention Committee, Member of the Drug Revolving Fund Committee, and Member of the Arthroplasty Revolving Fund Committee. A fellow of the West African College of Surgeons, he is currently the Head of Clinical Services Consultant Special Grade 1 (Orthopaedic/Spine Surgery) at NOHE.
