Michigan power outage crisis

The storm that swept across the United States this week, which at one point had more than 60 million Americans under weather advisories, has resulted in at least one confirmed death, with the possibility of another due to hypothermia in Oregon.

The storm continued to wreak havoc on Thursday, bringing snow, rain, and hail to large parts of the country, including Southern California.

In Portland, Oregon, 11 inches of snow fell within hours, leading to the shutdown of areas of the city.

A person died due to frigid temperatures. In Michigan, a volunteer firefighter and several pets were killed by downed power lines.

Over 800,000 people remain without power, with the majority of outages in Michigan.

Ethan Quillen, a Michigan husband, father, and ex-Marine, was killed after a tree broke a power line, which collapsed and killed him.

The Paw Paw Fire Department has asked for thoughts and prayers for his family and colleagues.

The storm has also caused travel disruptions, with almost a foot of snow falling in Oregon and balmy Southern California experiencing snow and hail.

Los Angeles and San Diego both issued blizzard warnings for mountainous areas.
