Melissa Caddick’s family opposes selling her things before Christmas

Her husband and family are partly opposing a big sale of fraudster Melissa Caddick’s extensive collection of diamonds, jewelry, artworks, fashionable clothing, and assets before Christmas.

With the $23 million she stole from largely family and friends, the con artist purchased items from her extravagant collection of luxury jewelry for sale, including the $250,000 Stella necklace with its astonishing 83 carat black sapphire.

There will be an uncontested auction for a total of 72 pieces of jewelry, paintings by artists including John Olsen, and clothing by Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Balmain, and Chanel.

However, the Federal Court of Australia was informed on Monday that Anthony Koletti, the husband of Caddick, had filed a complaint against the sale of 18 pieces of jewelry, including his wife’s earrings, necklace, and bracelet as well as a diamond and gold cross that he frequently wore while in her presence.

Koletti said in court filings that Caddick purchased goods from Stefano Canturi, her favorite jeweler, and then gave them to himself as gifts.

In addition to a flower pendant, a black sapphire dog tag pendant, and a gold pendant in the shape of a skull with diamond teeth that Caddick purchased for $4500, the 18 items listed are all by Canturi. They include a signature Cubish 18 carat white gold ring set with 16 baguette-cut black sapphires.

On Monday, the court learned that Caddick’s brother Adam Grimley intended to protest the sale of a superannuation fund and had requested for more time to do so.

Additionally, it was revealed that neither the validity of Melissa Caddick’s death nor the precise date of her passing had been determined since the inquest into her death had only been partially heard.

According to reports, Caddick’s parents Ted and Barb Grimley want to fight the receivers’ sale of the Edgecliff penthouse they now reside in, which their daughter purchased in 2016 for $2.5 million using stolen funds.

It is anticipated that the Dover Heights home Caddick shared with Mr. Koletti, where she was last seen alive in November 2020, may sell for much to $15 million, is presently on the market.

In February of last year, Caddick’s running shoe washed ashore on Bournda Beach on the NSW South Coast.

Ms. Caddick’s remains discovered within the shoe were recognized.

A Cartier Panther bracelet watch, a pair of Gucci silver heart earrings, and a Canturi Cubism Collection necklace with aquamarine, sapphire, and 165 diamonds are just a few of the things advertised for sale by court-appointed receivers.

According to information presented at an inquest into Ms. Caddick’s alleged murder, Mr. Canturi was scheduled to personally deliver his most recent order, a $100,000 diamond necklace and matching bracelet, on Friday, November 13, 2020.

The day before, she disappeared and was never heard from again.
