Matthew Brian Ramsay, 46, is accused of stabbing Helen Coulston in Dover Heights, Sydney

The family of a once-famous property developer who reportedly stabbed his best friend’s wife in millionaire’s quarrel has broken their silence.

Matthew Brian Ramsay, 46, was arrested on Monday and accused with stabbing Helen Coulston with intent to kill in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Mrs. Coulston, 46, was rushed to St. Vincent’s hospital and will recover.

Ramsay was close with the accused victim’s husband, Walt Coulston. He was best man at their wedding and godfather to their two children.

Mr. Coulston spoke scathingly about the alleged assault to Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday.

Shailee Ramsay, the real estate agent’s sister-in-law, told Daily Mail Australia the situation is ‘challenging’ since she’s acquainted with Mr. and Mrs. Coulston.

‘I can’t say much since it’s difficult and because Walter and Helen are our friends,’ she added.

Everyone is struggling.

Her family would support Ramsay throughout his legal struggle, she said.

He was refused bail on Tuesday and will appear in court again on October 19.

Shailee, a former fitness model, married Ramsay’s brother Anthony in 2015, and the three had been spotted together at family occasions, usually when Matthew was still married with an infant daughter.

2016 ended his marriage.

Mr Coulston, despite his wife’s alleged near-death experience, took his kids out for sushi on Tuesday.

He offered a quotation in return for a journalist’s jacket information.

‘I’ve had to go serve the kids lunch, sushi,’ he told 9 News.

Everyone loves your jacket, so if you tell me where you bought it, I’ll tell you something.

Mr. Coulston described the experience as “strange.”

Could you picture your best man and daughter’s godfather doing that?

Builder Peter Haramis said the 46-year-old mother was on ‘all fours’ with Ramsay as they struggled for the knife.

Mr Haramis claims she managed to throw the blade to the tradesman: ‘He stared at me for a second and froze, and that handed her the knife.’

I caught the knife she hurled at me. “You’re not getting the knife,” I told the accused attacker.

Ramsay was also accused of snatching cookies and flavoured milk worth $31 from a gas station.

Andrew O’Brien, his lawyer, did not request bail and asked for a delay.

Mr. O’Brien said he’ll try to have his shoplifting allegation handled under the mental health act on September 5.

The attempted murder accusation returns to court on October 19, with NSW Police designating Mrs. Coulston as a person in need of protection.

Ramsay is charged with attempted murder for stabbing in Dover Heights.

Neighbors claimed Ramsay’s vehicle was often spotted on the street where the Coulstons and their children rent.

Before the alleged assault, the family had only lived in the $4,000-per-week apartment for a few months.

Ramsay works in partner development at Stanton Hillier Parker, according to LinkedIn.

A corporate spokesperson claimed he hasn’t worked there for at least a year and was requested to update his profile.

The lady stated, ‘We requested LinkedIn to delete it since it’s inaccurate and he no longer works for us.’
