A mother claims she owes her life to a pregnancy resource center or maternity home in light of recent attacks by pro-abortion campaigners.
At the age of 20, Danielle Nicholson found herself in a crisis pregnancy and sought assistance from the Paul Stefan Foundation in Locust Grove, Virginia. The founders of the institution, Randy and Evelyn James, greeted her with open arms, and she is now the mother of a 9-year-old daughter and a social worker in foster care. She attributes her success to the new beginning and assistance she received in the maternity home.
In an interview with EWTN Pro-Life Weekly on September 15, she reflected: “At the time, my situation was quite dire, as I was not pursuing any future ambitions. I was not living a really fulfilling existence. I was just trying to get by, but the moment I found out I was pregnant, my entire life changed.
She added, “As soon as I understood I had a baby for whom I needed to survive, I immediately altered my perspective.”
Nicholson began living a clean lifestyle, returned to school, and began to organize her life in order to care for her child. During this period, she discovered the Paul Stefan Residence. During her five-year tenure, the house provided her with “the ideal opportunity to achieve all of my own aspirations.”
Not only was she given the means to pursue a professional life, but she was also offered the love that, according to Nicholson, she desperately needed at the time.
She remarked, “I still required a lot of love and support from adults and parents.” Randy and Evelyn began lavishing me with love, support, kindness, and patience immediately.
Nicholson said, “They taught me some really important life skills, like what it meant to be a professional, to be respectful, to have integrity, and to be ambitious.” “And Evelyn taught me how to be the best mother possible.” She taught me every aspect of motherhood.”
In her current position as a social worker for foster care, Nicholson aims to use her story to inspire others to overcome adversity.
She added, “I do my most best to make a difference in the lives of everyone I work with, including those who have endured abuse, trauma, or neglect, since I have been through it all and have found a way to overcome it.”
Nicholson continued, “I just describe it as a process that involves a great deal of attention and effort, but it is achievable, and if those individuals are prepared to walk through it with me, I will assist them.”
Nicholson delivered her poignant message about her experience with pregnancy centers and maternity homes in light of current attacks on these options for expecting women.
They are entirely voluntary. There is nothing about these locations that forces a woman to make a decision about the life of their child, adoption, or parenthood, she explained. “It is only a resource that provides a woman with the chance and opportunity to take a breath and discover what her options and resources are.”
“It depends entirely on what that woman wants for her life and for her child, and all women are met exactly where they are in terms of what they want for themselves and what they want for their children”
Nicholson stated, “Ultimately, these clinics and resources are merely an added layer of support to assist a woman in carrying out her decision.”
