Martha’s Vineyard migrants transferred to Cape Cod military base

Uninvited illegal immigrants who arrived on Martha’s Vineyard on Wednesday are now being transferred to a military facility near Cape Cod.

Just 48 hours after arriving in the billionaire’s enclave, Governor Charlie Baker has forced the 50 migrants on buses to go the 32 miles to Joint Base in Cape Cod (JBCC).

On Wednesday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis brought in the Venezuelan immigrants, prompting a clamour of fury from the leftist authorities of the little island in Massachusetts.

It was deemed a humanitarian emergency, and the island’s authorities reacted as they would in the case of a storm.

Three buses arrived outside St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Edgartown early on Friday morning to transport the migrants, who were mostly from Venezuela, on the first part of their trip to the ship.

They will be accompanied by police as they make their way from the exclusive island of billionaires with vacation estates, including multi-million dollar properties owned by the Obamas and Oprah, to the military installation on the mainland.

Homelessness director Lisa Belcastro said on Thursday that the island, where the typical property price is close to $1 million, cannot absorb the migrants due to a lack of affordable accommodation.

According to the census, the typical home on Martha’s Vineyard is worth approximately $800,000. The average family income is $77,370, which is much more than the national average of $67,521.

She told reporters that the island is experiencing a “housing crisis,” and that “at some time they have to migrate somewhere else.”

Five military commands train at the JBCC joint-use site, which also serves as a hub for intelligence command and control and aircraft search and rescue operations.

The facility “can also provide dedicated space for access to legal services and other essential services, such as basic healthcare.”

He said that families won’t be split up and that the migrants would reside at the base in “dormitory-style areas.”

According to Baker, it served as a refuge for victims of Hurricane Katrina in the past and housed a field hospital when the COVID epidemic first emerged.

In addition, he has called up 125 members of the Massachusetts National Guard to assist with relief operations. On Friday morning, police will accompany the buses as they arrive at the island’s ferry port.

With a population of 15,000, Martha’s Vineyard is, in Baker’s words, “not suited to offer sustainable lodging” for the migrants.

For the hour and a half journey from the island to Cape Cod, they were all told to board buses.

One of the migrants, Jhorman Cuicas, told The MV Times that he wishes he could remain.

Regardless of political affiliation, we can all agree that using vulnerable persons as players in a political game is abhorrent, according to Senator Susan Moran.

In order to make sure we are doing all we can to help both the immigrants and the local authorities who are on the front lines of attending to their needs, I have been meeting with local and state agencies over the last 24 hours.

The men, women, and children who just came from Venezuela will be temporarily relocated to Joint Base Cape Cod where we can better handle these difficulties, it was stated this morning.

In Massachusetts, everyone is treated with respect and decency.

The action was taken after DeSantis called the criticism of his decision to transport refugees to Martha’s Vineyard “virtue signalling” and called their concern for the migrants’ wellbeing a “fraud.”

When even a little portion of the daily struggles that border communities face is brought to their front door, he said, “they go bananas, and they’re so furious that this is occurring.”

State senator Julian Cyr, a Democrat from Massachusetts who represents Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, and Cape Cod, said that they had put emergency storm preparations in place in response to the newcomers.

Of response to an increase in unauthorised crossings that is taxing Border Patrol resources, about 1,000 migrants have been allowed to sleep on the streets of El Paso, Texas, which is located on the Texas border.

Residents of the affluent island were left in shock by the action, and locals and authorities quickly expressed their indignation.

However, they have now come under fire for being “unable to manage” the 50 migrants who had only been in their wealthy hometown for a few days.

The Obama family’s $11.75 million vacation home, which is located on the seaside fringes of Edgartown, is just a little more than three miles from St. Andrew’s.

These are all sanctuary cities until they’re in their sanctuary. Former secretary of state Mike Pompeo joked on how the rich leftists in the area could react to the migrants. I don’t think they’ll accept them.

By threatening to fly illegal immigrants to Delaware, the home state of Vice President Biden, Florida Governor DeSantis is now ratcheting up the immigration conflict once again in Democrat-controlled territories.

In an effort to make immigration the central issue of the November midterm elections, Republicans have intensified their criticism of the Biden administration.

The DeSantis administration intends to relocate any illegal immigrants from Florida to Delaware, according to Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nunez.

It comes after Gov. Greg Abbott yesterday delivered 101 undocumented immigrants to VP Kalama Harris’ residence in Washington, DC, only days after she said the border was “safe.”

Harris said in Texas interview on Sunday that the border is “safe,” and now she finds herself the target of Gov. Greg Abbott’s criticism of Democratic immigration laws.

She flatly declined to comment on the spectacular escalation yesterday as Abbott pressed his case against purported “sanctuary cities.”

The border is open, not closed, according to one unnamed individual who was captured on camera outside the Naval Observatory on Thursday. Everyone thinks the border is unlocked.

We entered, so it must be open. No issue, we may in for free. We entered the country illegally.

Democratic county commissioner for the area Keith Chatinover has said that he would “love” to turn the region into a “haven” for immigrants.

Sen. Ted Cruz’s efforts to get Democratic-led regions to serve as ports of entry for processing immigrants prompted him to make these remarks.

‘I would want Martha’s Vineyard to become a shelter for new immigrants to our nation, but Senator Cruz has no understanding what he’s talking about about a ‘border crisis,’ he told the MVTimes in October 2021.

But after calling DeSantis a “fascist” for intensifying the immigration conflict with Democratic-controlled regions, he is now being criticised for the remarks.

Cruz said on Twitter that he was perplexed by Chatinover’s criticism of DeSantis for bringing the illegal immigrants into the region.

In a tweet, Chatinover said that although he “supports refugee resettlement,” it bothers him when migrants are not given “enough warning” to “assist” them.

He continued by saying that the Republicans’ use of the pandemonium to “make a point” was a “blatant contempt” for human rights.

DeSantis should be “prosecuted for human trafficking,” according to another tweeter who labelled him “fascist filth,” which Chatinover retweeted.
