Mariah Carey, an American singer and songwriter, has been faced with a copyright infringement complaint for her blockbuster song “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
According to reports, Andy Stone filed the case, saying that he, too, has a song called “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” and that his version was released in 1989, five years before Mariah Carey’s.
In his petition, he also stated that he recorded his version in Nashville and that the song charted on the Billboard charts during the Christmas season of 1993, complete with a music video.
Andy Stone says that he co-wrote the song in 1989 and has never given permission for it to be used in legal filings filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
