A man was shot in the abdomen after slashing a police officer across the face with a knife.

Officers arrived at the complex around 11:30am on Wednesday to conduct a search warrant in one unit

Police were approached from behind by a resident from a different, where a senior constable was stabbed in the chin with a serrated knife and later rushed to hospital

Police had attended the same unit previously 'around concerns related to mental health' and also for an alleged stabbing last year

Wednesday about 11:30 a.m., police arrived at a unit complex in the inner-city district of Kangaroo Point, Brisbane, to execute a search warrant.

During a confrontation between police and a 30-year-old resident, an officer was allegedly cut with a knife.

The man is believed to have returned to his residence after the officer was hurt.

The police attempted to stun the man before shooting him in the abdomen. Unknown is if the suspect was shot by the injured cop or another officer.

The man was sent to Princess Alexandria Hospital.

The officer was also transported to the hospital with facial lacerations.
