A guy in his forties is said to have fallen around 20 meters down a mountainside in Cape Town on Sunday, January 29.

Sunday, a man fell from a vantage point along Chapman’s Peak Drive, prompting Wilderness Search and Rescue (WSAR) to receive a call for assistance.

The man, thought to be in his forties, tumbled at least 20 meters down the precipitous slope.

“Rescue specialists from various WSAR member agencies were mobilized and dispatched to the cliff’s edge,” stated WSAR.

After erecting and anchoring rescue ropes, rescuers abseiled down the mountainside. When they approached the man’s body, they discovered that he had perished in the fall.

The WSAR then assisted the South African Police Service (SAPS) in affixing the deceased to a stretcher, and a technical hauling device was used to return the body to the roadway.
