Tuesday, police announced the arrest of a man who clashed with two NYPD officers who were attempting to stop him from blocking traffic at a Brooklyn crossroads.
The NYPD accused 21-year-old Zayan Shar with assault, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct in connection with the altercation seen on camera Friday afternoon at Avenue H and Flatbush Avenue in South Midwood near Brooklyn College.
Shar disregarded the officers’ orders to vacate the area and fought with the policemen when they attempted to arrest him, according to the police.
The guy is shown on CCTV tossing one of the officers to the ground in the middle of the road.
The cop who was pushed to the ground and hit in the face, according to the police, suffered swelling and bruises. The second officer was not injured.
Joseph Giacalone, a retired NYPD sergeant and adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, told The Post that New York City officers are reluctant to employ any form of force on the job.
The altercation with the cops was captured on film.
Giacalone stated, “I’ve seen a lot of viral videos depicting the same scenario: NYPD officers attempting to apprehend a lone criminal but unable to do so due to the constraints set against them.”
Giacalone stated the cops’ good fortune.
“The outcome may have been disastrous for them. “Forget the embarrassing part, I’m speaking incoherently,” he remarked. “This young man could have done anything he desired. He flung that officer about like a rag doll.”
