Man accused of murdering Massachusetts couple after quarrel over barking dog

Police in Massachusetts are seeking for a suspect they believe brutally murdered a couple after an altercation about a noisy dog.

According to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, state police and Marshfield police are conducting a massive manhunt for Christopher Keeley, 27, who is suspected of fatally stabbing Carl and Vicki Mattson, both 70 years old.

Tuesday night, when cops were dispatched to their home on Gotham Hill Drive for a welfare check, both bodies were located inside. Both had been stabbed and beaten to death, according to the district attorney, Timothy Cruz.

Keeley was living in the couple’s home as a favor to a family member, but she was recently asked to leave, according to CBS Boston and a friend of the suspect.

According to reports, he told his friend that a disagreement over a dog’s barking led to the assault. According to court documents obtained by the station, he also disclosed to the friend that he had recently felt a desire to harm others, including the Mattsons.

The friend requested a welfare check on the couple after reporting that Keeley had recently exhibited “psychotic” behavior and owned knives.

The police stated that Keely should be regarded as “armed and dangerous.” He was last seen driving the couple’s 2019 black Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, but it was abandoned in a parking lot on Wednesday and recovered by authorities.

Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for him.
