Mamelodi Sundowns’ top defenders are out for the foreseeable future

Coach Rhulani Mokwena of Mamelodi Sundowns has revealed that defenders Terrence Mashego and Abdelmounaim Boutouil would be sidelined for some time.

Mashego and Boutouil joined the Brazilians before the end of the last transfer window, but will be sidelined for an additional two months due to injury.

Wednesday, during a media day in Chloorkop, Masandawana coach Mokwena provided an injury report for his team.

Two Kaizer Chiefs players will be suspended upon receiving their second yellow card.

“The latest medical news. We have an ongoing relationship with Abdel and Terrence. These are the long-term ones,” stated Mokwena.

“Lebo (Maboe) relapsed on the knee that was operated on, so he has a few weeks back, but not as long as Abdel and Terrence.

“Abdel and Terrence have different injuries, but the prognosis is between 10 and 12 weeks. That is the prescribed duration. We hope that it will be shorter. However, it is 10 to 12 weeks. That was three weeks ago, however.

Mokwena continued, “The good news is that both of them are now on good biomechanical motions post-surgery, which is wonderful because Terrence is doing pool work and hydrotherapy and Abdel has begun strengthening training with the physios in the gym, which is good.”
