Luke Bryan apologizes for his ‘absurd’ Dustin Lynch rant: It was “irony”

Luke Bryan blamed his “humor and sarcasm” for his odd on-stage tirade against fellow country musician Dustin Lynch.

“Dustin Lynch is one of my closest friends on the planet,” the 46-year-old judge of “American Idol” said in a Thursday Instagram Story video while “doing a little duck hunting” in a “flooded cornfield.”

Bryan asserted, “No one respects him more than I do, and that night at [music festival Crash My] Playa… His introduction from me was utter mockery. The words I used were so ludicrous that I assumed everyone would interpret them as sarcasm.

Nevertheless, the “Country Girl (Shake for Me)” singer recognized that “obviously some people” were offended by his joke about Lynch drinking, using drugs, and undergoing STD testing.

“I spoke to Dustin. I love him. “He and I are doing well,” Bryan reported. “I apologize to anyone who does not appreciate my wit and sarcasm.”

The artist of “One Margarita” instructed his 6.3 million Instagram followers to listen to his friend’s new hit, “Stars Like Confetti.”

Lynch, 37, also stated via his Instagram Story that there is no bad blood between him and Bryan. “Thanks for the call, brother. All good.”

Bryan angered a number of TikTok users earlier this week when a viral concert video showed him making fun of Lynch, a Crash My Playa mainstay for years.

“No one has consumed more alcohol, vomited more, ingested more drugs, received more intravenous fluids, or passed more STD tests than this gentleman,” the “Drink a Beer” singer told the audience before his companion hit the stage.

Multiple fans stated that Bryan’s rage was “unwarranted,” while another wrote that Luke’s words were “extremely disappointing.”
