LOAD SHEDDING: Is the UK going down the same evil road as South Africa?

A major British power firm has warned the nation to expect six hours of blackouts if energy rationing becomes necessary.

According to The Sun, United Kingdom (UK) Power Networks, which serves millions of homes in London and the South East, has published guidance acknowledging that the energy situation is “difficult.”

The corporation that oversees power wires and lines has advised the British to purchase a flashlight, keep their cellphones charged, and stock up on warm clothing for the winter.

Residents were warned through email to ensure that they had access to food that did not require heating before consumption.

According to The Sun, there is no guarantee that an energy crisis will not occur this winter.

The email addressed to vulnerable consumers stated, “While this winter is anticipated to be difficult, there is no assurance that emergency measures will be required. Although power outages are unusual, they can occur at any time of year, so it is crucial to be prepared.

Residents were also advised that power outages lasting up to three hours could occur once or twice daily.

The email continues: “If you have a mobile phone, keep it fully charged so you can use it to check for updates online or to call in the event of a power outage.”

The British government characterized the messages as “strictly precautionary.”

“The United Kingdom has a secure and diverse energy system, and we are confident in our plans to protect households and businesses this winter, including vulnerable households.” A representative told The Sun.
