Lil Tjay was arrested on illegal firearm charges while recording a music video in the Bronx earlier in the week. On Wednesday, he was due to be freed on a $90,000 bond.

Tione Jayden Merritt, a 21-year-old musician whose real name is Tione Jayden Merritt, was arrested on Monday after police pulled over the Cadillac Escalade he was riding in and discovered multiple loaded firearms, according to police.

According to police and sources, the SUV was stopped near 183rd Street and Ryer Avenue at 4 p.m. due to tinted windows and a missing front license plate.

The Bronx-born rapper is charged with criminal possession of a firearm in the second degree, a felony.

Ira Judelson, a well-known bail bondsman, posted Merritt’s bond on Wednesday, and he was anticipated to be released from Rikers Island later that day.

“He didn’t get out because the judge wouldn’t sign or look at the bond,” Merritt’s defense attorney Dawn Florio said following his midnight arraignment in Bronx court. It was the most ludicrous thing I have ever witnessed.

According to the police, four firearms were seized from the vehicle.

Lil Tjay was arrested on a felony gun charge early Wednesday morning after police discovered four firearms in the Cadillac Escalade he was driving.

“A gun was allegedly discovered behind the driver’s seat in the back,” Florio asserted. “A firearm was discovered on the licensed security guard. And two firearms locked in a box. They began searching the vehicle and discovered the firearms.

She stated, “However, the security guard is a retired federal officer.” They had no concern.

According to social media posts, the Columbia Records-signed “Brothers” performer was in the area to film a music video with rapper Ice Spice.

Isis Gaston, the rapper’s true name, was involved in a different incident nearby but was not charged. However, Markus Grisham, 34, who was in the vehicle with her, was also charged with gun possession, according to police.

Lil Tjay, whose actual name is Tione Jayden Merritt, is a Bronx rapper whose debut album, “True 2 Myself,” debuted on the Billboard 200 chart on November 5.

According to Bergen County prosecutors, Merritt made headlines in June when he was shot numerous times during an attempted robbery at The Promenade in Edgewater, New Jersey.

Antoine Boyd, 22 years old, was also injured during the event.

Merrit, who signed with Columbia in 2018, has over seven million Instagram followers and his debut album “True 2 Myself” reached at No. 5 on the US Billboard 200.
