Launch of Abu Dhabi Industrial Strategy supports leadership’s vision to drive national industry growth: Sultan Al Jaber

ABU DHABI, 30th June, 2022 (WAM) — Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, affirmed that the UAE, thanks to the directives of the wise leadership, is maintaining its drive in empowering the industrial sector and boosting its competitiveness by leveraging available resources, advantages and capabilities, to develop a more conducive and flexible environment that ensures optimal results.

Commenting on the launch of the Abu Dhabi Industrial Strategy by H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Office, Dr. Al Jaber said that the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, in line with the UAE leadership’s directives, is keen to double its efforts, prepare for the future and actively contribute to diversifying the UAE’s economy, leveraging its competitive advantages, as well as aligning the roles of all stakeholders to build a resilient industrial sector, underpinned by an ecosystem of advaned capabilities, infrastructure, logistic services and an attractive investment environment.

Abu Dhabi’s new industrial strategy builds on the major strides made under the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology, which the UAE launched to enhance the role of its industrial sector and boost its contribution to the GDP, he added.

Dr. Al Jaber explained that the UAE has, within a short period, upgraded its industrial ecosystem by further developing its existing industries, while providing a conducive climate for industries of the future to thrive, and attracting investments to support local industries.

The strategy also drives the UAE’s industrial growth, and helps qualify and empower Emirati cadres, create a smart circular economy and develop a sustainable ecosystem, as well as enhances investment in future technologies and partnerships with the private sector, he noted, adding that it, moreover, lays down the foundations of an investor- and entrepreneur-friendly business environment backed by new and qualitative incentive programmes, such as “Make it in the Emirates”, which serves as a pioneering, practical step to drive the country’s industrial growth in the country.

The Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology further explained that the new strategy will support the UAE’s efforts to achieve the objectives of its Net Zero by 2050 initiative and National Climate Change Plan, by enhancing opportunities across the green industries sector and integrating smart manufacturing and energy efficiency management programmes.

The UAE offers several advantages that strengthen its leading position as a global manufacturing and industrial hub, including its strategic geographical location, export capabilities, access to key supply chains, strategic partnership agreements, conducive policies and regulatory frameworks, adding that these are complemented by the availability of raw materials, traditional and renewable energy supplies, a highly skilled workforce, and an integrated network of transport, logistics, information and IT infrastructure.

Dr. Al Jaber stressed that Abu Dhabi’s industrial experience, which involves developing specialised zones as per the highest international standards, contributed significantly to attracting investments across the industrial, manufacturing and advanced technology sectors. He expressed his confidence that the new Abu Dhabi Industrial Strategy would bring about a major transformation across the national industrial sector, which would, in turn, have a positive impact on the local economy.
