The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has taken action to remove 15 illegal attachments at Divine Homes Estate, located in Thomas Estate, Ajah, Eti-Osa Local Government Area of the State.
According to the General Manager of LASBCA, Arc. Gbolahan Owodunni Oki, these attachments had been converted from residential to commercial usage without proper authorization, reflecting a growing trend in the state’s construction sector.
Unlawful Conversion of Residential Units
Upon investigation, LASBCA found that certain parts of the residential units in Divine Homes Estate, including boys’ quarters and other sections, had been unlawfully transformed into shops and utilized for various commercial activities.
This disregard for physical planning regulations and building codes poses a significant threat to the estate’s original plan as a residential area.
Prior Notifications and Non-Compliance
Before the removal of the illegal attachments, the owners were served with Statutory Notices such as Contravention, Quit, and Demolition Notices.
These notifications were issued after the owners failed to revert to the original building plan approval granted by the government.
