Kenya assures DRC of commitment to respectful ties after Ruto’s ‘No-Cows’ remarks

Kenya’s administration has reaffirmed its commitment to a respectful relationship with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), a day after Deputy President William Ruto said the country lacked even a single cow.
Ruto made the statements during a tour to Nyeri County on Monday, noting that the Democratic Republic of Congo lacked a single cow and that Kenya could commit to selling them milk.
In a statement, Kenya’s Ambassador to the DRC, George Masafu, pledged to promote a strong collaboration between the two nations, particularly at a time when the DRC is ready to join the East African Community.
Ruto’s comments generated anger, causing Congolese Senator Francine Muyumba to request that he retract his degrading statements.
