Keir Starmer’s allies are angry that Andy Burnham attended a hard-left event

Andy Burnham, a seasoned member of the Labour Party, has angered Sir Keir Starmer’s supporters by deciding to attend a ‘hard left’ event this week.

The Enough Is Enough campaign, which was launched in the aftermath of the cost-of-living issue, is hosting a meeting this Tuesday. The Greater Manchester mayor will attend along with Mick Lynch, the leader of the RMT Union.

But just last week, the Mail on Sunday reported how Sir Keir’s friends worried the new organisation may serve as a new focal point for the Hard Left and thwart Labour’s efforts to win back power.

This Tuesday, Mr. Burnham will attend a meeting hosted by the Enough Is Enough campaign, which was started in response to the cost-of-living problem, with Mick Lynch, the leader of the RMT Union.

Additionally, a prominent member of Sir Keir’s frontbench team remarked yesterday night: “Someone has to tell Andy Burnham enough is enough.”

This is the guy who, while in power, projected himself as more of a Blairite than Blair, and who afterwards embraced Corbyn in opposition.

“He’ll alter his song” when he realises the wind has shifted, according to the proverb.

The cost-of-living issue should be the Labour Party’s top priority, according to a Burnham spokeswoman.

The mayor is showing up at the Enough is Enough! rally to speak out for Greater Manchester residents.

“That is more crucial than a briefing on colleagues,” someone said.

According to sources close to the mayor, who has made no secret of his desire to become Labour leader in the future, the Enough is Enough event was being held at Manchester Cathedral, which they jokingly described as a “very excellent” location.

They continued: “Why doesn’t the party back anything like this?

What in the world are they doing, you ask?

The party has a “costed, fully-funded proposal to freeze energy costs and bring money swiftly back into people’s wallets,” a Labour spokesman said last night.
