The British Ambassador to the United States, Dame Karen Pierce, greeted the pair, and Harris was spotted interacting with embassy employees before taking a seat and composing her condolence letter.

In an email to Vice President Harris, the deputy communications director tweeted about the Queen’s “extraordinary life of service.”

After paying her respects, Emhoff was observed writing a note before leaving the embassy with her companion.

After the death of the 96-year-old British head of state, the president canceled a speech on COVID-19 vaccines and ordered flags to be flown at half-mast and half-staff.

As he sat down to make his contribution, Biden sported a black suit, carried a bouquet of flowers, and retrieved a notepad.

He wrote, “Today, the American people mourn alongside those in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.”
