Kaizer Chiefs reserve team coach Vela Khumalo says Mduduzi Shabalala “is a very special player”

Coach of the Kaizer Chiefs reserve team Vela Khumalo believes Mduduzi Shabalala will have great success with the senior team of the Soweto giants.

Shabalala, who served as the reserve squad captain for Amakhosi, excelled during the previous season for the DStv Diski Challenge group.

He has already played for South Africa at the junior level and was a standout player for Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday as they defeated Stellenbosch FC 2-0 in the DStv Diski Shield final.

Shabalala was one of the goal scorers in the final.

According to the Sowetan, Khumalo praised Mduduzi Shabalala by saying: “Listen, Shabalala is a very special player who is always bringing something new into his game.

“He is one player who is always striving to do his best and improve. He goes all-out when he trains, he goes all-out when he plays and I think that makes him a special player.”

Khumalo added: “He knows that it is not all about talent, you have to work hard if you want to make it in football. He listens, he wants to learn and that will help him in the future.

“When I look at him play, I see a person who is dedicated and committed, that is why he is the captain of the team.”
