Justice Olalekan Oresanya says LASTMA cannot fine or tow cars without a court warrant

On September 30, 2022, the Lagos State Government filed a Notice of Appeal containing four (4) grounds of appeal against the Honourable Justice Olalekan Oresanya’s decision, which held that LASTMA was not authorized to issue fines or tow away vehicles without a court order of appropriate jurisdiction.

After reviewing the verdict and expressing displeasure with it, the State Government utilized its constitutional right to appeal by submitting a Notice of Appeal on the 30th day of September 2022. Additionally, a request for a stay of the judgment’s execution has been made.

Therefore, the general people are recommended to uphold the law and ensure compliance with all relevant State laws.
