This morning, Just Stop Oil returned to the M25 after a protester scaled a gantry and threatened a third consecutive day of transport disruption.
It follows similar scenes on Monday, when eco-extremists climbed gantries at 11 intersections on Britain’s biggest road, causing chaos for commuters.
Some nurses were unable to reach the hospital for work or return home after a 12-hour night shift, while others missed flights or crucial doctor visits.
The eco-mob objects to the usage of fossil fuels and demands that no new oil and gas licenses be issued.
The continuous protests are humiliating for the police, who appear to have once again been circumvented by those able to scale highway overpasses and block the traffic.
Today at 6:31 a.m., Surrey Police said, “There is one protester on a gantry near junction 8, but traffic is now flowing normally.”
Officers are conducting proactive patrols of the remainder of the M25, as they have all week.
This morning, the police warned would-be eco-extremists that “any criminal activity will be dealt with immediately.”
It tweeted: “We’re patrolling the M25 again today in anticipation of other efforts to cause disruption.”
“Keeping traffic moving is essential, and any criminal activity will be dealt with immediately.” If you’re running late, please do not disregard’red crosses’ or drive on the hard shoulder, as this hinders emergency vehicles.
