Just Stop Oil rally: Suella Braverman slams two men obstructing Dartford Crossing

The Home Secretary has criticized the “tofu-eating wokerati” for successfully obstructing police from apprehending eco-fanatics who have created chaos and suffering over weeks of protest.

MPs who opposed severe new measures to increase police authority to deal with activists more rapidly came under fire from Suella Braverman.

As lawmakers discussed the Public Order Bill in the Commons, Mrs. Braverman addressed the chamber and declared, “I’m afraid it’s the Labour Party, it’s the Lib Dems, it’s the coalition of chaos, it’s the Guardian-reading, tofu-eating wokerati – dare I say, the anti-growth coalition – that we have to thank for the disruption we are seeing on our roads today.”

Her remarks came after police detained two Just Stop Oil protestors who had been hanging from the QEII bridge for 36 hours, forcing the closure of a crucial transportation route between Kent and Essex out of concern for their safety.

To “resolve the problem,” an elevated platform often used to rescue people from tall buildings was brought in.

Now, National Highways must choose when to reopen the bridge.

After video was posted online that seemed to show pyrotechnics being aimed towards the demonstrators on the bridge, police are also looking into the matter.

Since they started creating a disturbance in and around London on October 1, more than 450 Just Stop Oil activists have been detained.

Last night, the Public Order Bill was approved by the Commons, and the Lords will now review it in further detail.

This year, portions of the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill were lost, which meant that the provision that would have made locking-on, in which protesters attach themselves to one another, monuments, or other infrastructure, illegal was eliminated.
