Joint statement by Ambassadors and High Commissioners in Kenya on results of presidential elections

The results of Kenya’s presidential election were released on August 15 by the head of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

We thank the people of Kenya for the election day tranquility, the organization of the elections by the IEBC, and the good contributions made by civil society, religious and commercial leaders, and the security forces. Kenya has served as a model for the whole region and continent. In the next weeks, we appeal on all actors to sustain the spirit of peace.

We urge all political parties and leaders to adhere to the conflict resolution methods outlined in the Kenyan Constitution.

The following embassies and high commissions have made this statement: Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
