After two decades of interviewing celebrities, athletes, and politicians, Jimmy Kimmel had not yet conducted an interview with himself.
On the 20th anniversary of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” the late-night host used cutting-edge technology to speak with his 2003 self.
Kimmel, 55, requested side-by-side images of his present self and from his first show, in which a younger version of himself appeared and greeted his future self.
“Nice beard, Grandpa,” began the shaven host.
“Why are you so skinny? Oh oh, am I dying?” added the younger Kimmel
Present-day Kimmel stated, “No, you’re not dying; this is what you’ll look like in twenty years.”
“Gross.”
Later, the pair noted how absurd it was that the show had remained on the air since its debut on January 26, 2003.

“Speaking of ridiculous,” the older Kimmel added, “guess who was president a few years ago?”
The younger Kimmel responded, “Uh, Flava Flav,” before guessing Michael Jackson and Matt Damon, a reference to the host’s on-screen dispute with the actor.
After discussing their lifelong adversary, the younger Jimmy questioned how it was possible for them to be conversing.
“We now have incredible technology,” Kimmel stated. “We now have 3-D printers, electric vehicles, and electric cigarettes. Marijuana’s legal.”
“Get the hell out of here!” “Are you currently high?” asked the younger Kimmel incredulously. “I am currently baked out of my mind,” Kimmel of the present added. It feels as if I’m speaking to myself right now since I’m so high.”
The remainder of Thursday night’s show featured the same roster of guests who appeared on Kimmel’s inaugural episode, including George Clooney, Snoop Dogg, and British rock band Coldplay.
