Jay Leno appeared on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” and joked about his “brand new face” after suffering third-degree burns on his face, chest, and hands in a horrific car fire accident on November 12.
Despite his injuries, Leno received a warm welcome from the audience and chatted with Kelly Clarkson about his recovery.
Leno shared that he was working on a car when he got a full face of gasoline, and it caught fire, causing third-degree burns.
However, he quipped that it was a flaming hot Dorito that set his face on fire, adding humour to the situation.
Leno also revealed that he was working on a 1907 White Steam Car with a clogged fuel line when the explosion occurred.
Fortunately, his friend David Killackey acted quickly and pulled him out while smothering the fire. Leno was treated for his injuries at the Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles, where he received skin grafts and another surgical procedure.
Unfortunately, Leno’s recovery worsened when he broke multiple bones in a motorcycle accident just weeks after his burn injuries. Despite this setback, Leno remained in good spirits and joked about being the “new face of comedy” for the second time in his career.
During his appearance on the show, Leno and Clarkson gifted the three nurses who treated him with a three-night vacation to the Bahamas. Overall, Leno’s appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” was a testament to his resilience and positive outlook despite enduring a series of unfortunate accidents.
