James sues Trump for transferring assets from his family firm

In her $250 million civil action against the former president, New York Attorney General Letitia James requested a preliminary injunction on Thursday to stop Donald Trump from shifting assets around.

The Trump Organization secretly formed a new corporation, Trump Organization II, on the same day that James launched a lawsuit against Trump last month, according to the court filing on Thursday.

The new company is a foreign corporation that was established in Delaware.

Investigators are worried that Trump may transfer assets from the family real estate company they are looking at to a new entity in order to escape involvement in the lawsuit.

According to the attorney general’s office, “The Trump Organization has subsequently failed to offer any guarantee that it would not endeavor to relocate assets out of New York to dodge legal responsibilities.”

In the filing on Thursday, there were also worries that Trump and the other defendants in the lawsuit would be preparing Trump’s financial records for the current year with the same “fraud and deceit.”
