Saturday at the FNB Stadium, Mamelodi Sundowns successfully advanced to the final of the four-team event to win their first-ever Carling Black Label Cup.

Bafana Ba Style pursued AmaZulu FC with vigor in their opening match of the tournament against AmaZulu FC. Masandawana dispatched Usuthu by a score of 3-0 to go to the Black Label Cup championship match.

Cassius Mailula scored on a deflected shot that beat goalie Veli Mothwa and into the back of the net five minutes into the game.

Masandawana’s approach was dominant throughout the entire match, but they were unable to capitalize on the opportunities they produced to expand their lead.

The Brazilians scored their second goal in the second half when, after entering the game as a replacement, Surprise Ralani found Gaston Sirino, who assisted Haashim Domingo in scoring from close range. Ralani scored the third goal in this match with a stunning curl into the top corner to give Masandawana a shot at the championship match.

Bafana Ba Style met Orlando Pirates in the second match of the day at Soccer City, following the Buccaneers’ victory over Kaizer Chiefs.

The Brazilians defeated the 10-man Orlando Pirates 4-0 in the Carling Black Label Cup final to win the inaugural Carling Black Label Cup.

Sphelele Mkhulise, a graduate of the Downs program, scored the opening goal twenty minutes into the game. After thirty minutes, Grant Kekana extended the Tshwane giants’ advantage by converting a short corner play.

In the 35th minute, just after the celebrations, Mailula scored his second goal of the day to give Sundowns a 3-0 lead. Midway through the second half, the 21-year-old forward looped the ball past Pirates goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane to seal Masandawana’s victory in the one-day competition.

Later in December, Bafana Ba Style will return to action to complete their campaign.
