In less than two weeks, Donald Trump will make a triumphant return to the capital city, visiting the city for the first time since leaving office to attend an American First Policy Institute event.

According to a Tuesday Axios article, the former president will serve as the keynote speaker for the two-day America First Agenda Summit on July 26.

The televised select committee hearings on January 6 and rumors that Trump’s hold on the Republican Party is eroding coincide with his return to D.C. A recent survey indicates that nearly half of GOP voters want to see a different candidate on the 2024 presidential ballot.

High profile Republican figures, including former Trump officials, lawmakers, state officials, and governors, will attend the event.

The keynote talk will be given by Trump at 3:00 pm on July 25-26, the second day of the summit.

Anyone, including the press, can register online to watch the summit live broadcast, but attendees must have an invitation to attend in person.

Due to security reasons, the event’s precise location has not yet been disclosed, according to Axios.

The non-profit research organization America First Policy Institute is run by members of the Trump administration, including former Small Business Administrator Linda McMahon, former National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow, and former Domestic Policy Council Director Brooke Rollins. At the retreat, all three will present.

Eight former cabinet members, including former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, former Energy Secretary Rick Perry, former Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf, former Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker, and former Secretary of Veteran Affairs Robert Wilkie, are also listed as attendees and speakers.

There will be 13 House lawmakers, including Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and GOP Whip Steve Scalise, in addition to eight additional White House representatives, including former Senior Advisor Kellyanne Conway and former National Security Advisor John Bolton’s chief of staff.

Ten senators will attend the summit: Texas’ Ted Cruz, South Carolina’s Lindsey Graham, Florida’s Rick Scott, Wisconsin’s Ron Johnson, Oklahoma’s James Langford, Indiana’s Mike Braun, Iowa’s Joni Ernst, Montana’s Steve Daines, Tennessee’s Bill Hagerty, and Wyoming’s Cynthia Lummis.

Newt Gingrich, a former House Speaker, will also attend.

The summit is anticipated to concentrate on reducing the cost of fuel and energy as well as fighting inflation. In addition, it will “regulate” matters like as border security, crime, and children’s education.

A New York Times/Siena College poll conducted on Tuesday found that at least five other candidates have at least some support from GOP supporters who want to see a different candidate on the 2024 presidential ticket.

While another 25% say they would prefer Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on the Republican ticket, only 49% still want to see Trump run.

Ted Cruz, a Texas senator who ran in 2016, is supported by an additional 7% of voters. Former President Mike Pence and Nikki Haley, the American ambassador to the UN during the Trump administration, each received 6% of the vote.

Only 2% of respondents said they would support Mike Pompeo, a former secretary of state.

In response to the January 6 Capitol incident, nearly one in five Republicans claim that Trump “went so far that he harmed American democracy,” while 75% of primary voters claim the former president was “simply using his right to contest the election.”
