TikTok enabled an 82-year-old Navy veteran to retire from his position as a Walmart cashier last week.

Rory McCarty stated that he was motivated to assist the elderly employee, Warren “Butch” Marion of Cumberland, Maryland, after viewing a TikTok about an elderly female Walmart employee who said she had to labor there to make ends meet.

In December, McCarty published a video of Marion working hard and asked his 277,000 followers if they would help him retire. Then, he created a GoFundMe campaign for Marion in an effort to raise $100,000.

As the owner of a small business, McCarty was “astonished” to find Marion still working “eight- or nine-hour shifts.”

Warren “Butch” Marion, an 82-year-old veteran, was able to retire from Walmart after a TikToker raised over $100,000 for him.

McCarty told FOX 5: “I simply wanted to set something in motion, and the Lord did the rest.”

McCarty wrote on the GoFundMe page, “I wanted to assist this Navy veteran in spending his remaining years traveling to Florida to see his children.” “Get him off his feet for eight hours at a time and do the things he wants to do but may not be able to due to financial constraints.”

Marion disclosed that he worked approximately 30 hours per week at Walmart. He stated that he retired from General Motors years ago to help care for his ex-husband wife’s before he passed away, after which he began working at Walmart.

Over 5,700 people have contributed a total of $141,000 to GoFundMe, considerably above the $100,000 objective.

Thus, Marion was able to give Wally World his two-week notice. Last Thursday, local reporters, loved ones, and veterans gathered in the store’s parking lot to witness McCarty hand Marion enough money so that he would never again need to punch a time clock.

“Butch asked me to thank each and every one of you who contributed to the miracle you gave him. “He said, ‘Thank you from the bottom of my heart,’” McCarty wrote in the caption of a TikTok of the ceremony.

“I feel like a completely different person,” Marion told FOX 5. “This is beyond belief.”

Last week, Marion was able to retire thanks to the funds donated through GoFundMe.

He stated that the funds will allow him to pay off his debts, relax, and spend three weeks in Florida with his daughters and grandchildren. He stated that he has not given them a hug in years.

“Free as a bird,” Marion added.

In November, meantime, a TikToker donated over $170,000 for an elderly Walmart employee.
