Shaun Ryder Withdraws from I’m A Celebrity Challenges Due to Crippling Hip Pain Shaun Ryder, the lead singer of Happy Mondays, has had to withdraw from a number of challenges in the upcoming all-star series of I’m A Celebrity due to severe hip pain.

The 60-year-old musician was warned by medical professionals that he could not risk his health and had to sit out of any physically demanding tasks.

Ryder has had issues with his hip for some time and was left disappointed by the ruling as he had loved doing the physically-demanding stunts when he starred on the show in 2010.

However, he is determined to try his best despite the setback.

Shaun Ryder’s Past I’m A Celebrity Experiences Ryder reminisces about how much he enjoyed the thrill of the show’s stunts when he previously starred on it.

He particularly enjoyed jumping out of a plane, describing the experience as terrifying but exhilarating.

Unfortunately, he won’t be doing anything like that anymore, stating: “Sadly, there will be no more helicopters for me now because I’ve got issues with my hip.”

He also admits he won’t be much help in the kitchen, jokingly saying that he “hasn’t got the skills to boil an egg, let alone take on the South African jungle.”

Shaun Ryder’s Desire to Win I’m A Celebrity All-Stars Despite the physical setback, Ryder is determined to do his best and win the competition.

“It would be nice to win this I’m A Celebrity series,” he said.

“It is always nice to win something, but I feel very honoured to be part of the show.

It is a privilege to be back and I’m glad I am doing it again.”

He is competing against a number of famous faces, including Amir Khan, Phil Tufnell, Fatima Whitbread, Carol Vorderman, Helen Flanagan and Paul Burrell.

The new series will launch on Monday, April 24th at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
