The post-credits scene of “Hocus Pocus 2” may have foreshadowed future installment in the franchise.
The new film, which debuted on Friday on Disney+, takes place 29 years after the Sanderson sisters (Kathy Najimy, Bette Midler, and Sarah Jessica Parker) were defeated in the original film.
In the sequel, a magic store owner (Sam Richardson) charms a group of girls into raising the sisters again on Halloween using a new Black Flame Candle, an item capable of resurrecting the witches for one night.
Upon their return, the witches determined to cast a powerful, prohibited spell. In order to stop them, Izzy (Belissa Escobedo), Becca (Whitney Peak), and Cassie (Lilia Buckingham) collaborate. During their quest, they learn that Becca is also a witch, and her abilities increase throughout the film.
A brief post-credits sequence hints that the Sanderson sisters could return in a future sequel, despite the film’s definitive conclusion regarding their fate.

At the conclusion of the film, the Sanderson sisters complete their magic, but it is revealed that the spell has a catch: the user will lose what they care about most.
The leading sister, Winifred (Midler), loses her sisters, who progressively vanish into thin air. Winifred begs the three children and her magical book to reconnect her with her sisters when she is in sorrow. Their spell is effective, but instead of returning Winifred’s sisters, it takes her to wherever they are.
Billy Butcherson, Winifred’s ex-lover who was brought back to life in the first film, begins to vanish as a result of the spell. This signifies that witches and their magic have been permanently eradicated from the planet.
In the post-credits sequence, however, a black cat named Cobweb discovers a box labeled “BF #2 Candle” in the Sanderson sisters’ house, which has been transformed into a magic shop. This indicates that Gilbert, the proprietor of the magic shop, created a second Black Flame Candle that could be used in the future to bring the sisters back.
Prior to the release of “Hocus Pocus 2,” Midler, Najimy, and Parker indicated interest in a third installment.
“Obviously, I would join up for a third, but I don’t know how. I cannot conceive of the plot, but I adore Winifred, Sarah, Mary, and our friendship “Winifred’s portrayer, Midler, told Entertainment Weekly. “It benefits women. We remain together through hell and high water, but we do produce chaos, which is rare among women.”
Parker continued: “Kathy [Najimy] had the brilliant idea to animate the third one. That is a wonderful and clever idea. It is amusing, humorous, and could be original and engaging, like old or modern animation.”
