New court documents reveal that Horatio Sanz has settled a lawsuit alleging he sexually assaulted an adolescent superfan at a “Saturday Night Live” afterparty as cast members including Will Ferrell and Tina Fey allegedly looked on.
The accuser of Sanz, who launched the case anonymously as Jane Doe in 2021, has settled her claims against the comedian and NBCUniversal, according to records filed last week in the Manhattan Supreme Court case.
The unidentified Pennsylvania woman claims she first met Sanz when she was 15 and operating a “SNL” fan site, when he was 31. According to the lawsuit, he initiated an inappropriate connection with her that included cybersex, inappropriate touching, and sexual assault.
She claims that Sanz grabbed her at a drug-fueled afterparty on May 11 and 12, 2002, while cast members including Fey, Ferrell, Maya Rudolph, and Rachel Dratch allegedly stood by and did nothing. She asserted that Sanz sexually abused her at the same gathering.
Her suit alleged that Sanz took the girl to a recording of the show in 2000, then to a series of afterparties in 2001 when he permitted her to drink, inappropriately handled her, and wanted her to “sit on his lap.” Eventually, he invited her to the party in 2002 where the alleged sexual assault took place.
According to the lawsuit, she also claimed that Sanz had a years-long cybersex connection with her, during which he urged her to take images of himself and afterwards boasted that he masturbated during the talks.
A representative for the law company that represents the woman stated, “I can confirm that the parties have settled their issue and moved on.”
The representative would not comment on the specifics of the settlement.
Monday, attorneys for Sanz, 53, and NBCUniversal did not respond quickly to a request for comment.
