Holly Willoughby was set to return to This Morning, the popular ITV daytime show, on April 17th, alongside her co-host, Phillip Schofield.
However, due to her ill health, Rochelle Humes was brought in as her replacement.
Fans of the show were left surprised and disappointed by Holly’s absence.
Holly’s Shingles Diagnosis
This Morning’s cast and crew sent their love to Holly after she was diagnosed with shingles, a viral infection that causes a painful rash.
ITV confirmed that she may not be presenting the show for a while. Holly herself took to social media to explain that she would be away for “a few days” or the whole week.
Rochelle Humes as Holly’s Replacement
Rochelle Humes, who is also a well-known TV presenter and former member of the Saturdays, was chosen to fill Holly’s shoes on This Morning.
This was the first time in a while that Rochelle has appeared on the show, and she took to Instagram to express her love and support for Holly.
Phil’s Extra Week Off
Phillip Schofield took an extra week off before the Easter holidays, coinciding with his brother’s trial for child sex offences at Exeter Crown Court.
Viewers of the show are used to not seeing Holly and Phil on the famous daytime sofa as they regularly take some time off around Easter.
Commentary
Holly Willoughby’s absence from This Morning due to her shingles diagnosis is unfortunate.
However, it is good to see that the show was able to find a capable replacement in Rochelle Humes.
It is also understandable that both Holly and Phillip would take time off around Easter, especially given the circumstances surrounding Phillip’s brother’s trial.
We wish Holly a speedy recovery and hope to see her back on the show soon.
