Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield won’t be sacked, says ITV CEO

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby have allegedly been “misrepresented,” according to the CEO of ITV, after reports that they bypassed the line for the Queen’s laying in state.

Despite an online petition calling for their dismissal, Dame Carolyn McCall claimed the co-hosts of This Morning were secure in their positions and commended their work for the broadcaster.

Due to allegations that they skipped the public queue to pay their respects at Westminster Hall earlier this month, the duo has come under fire on social media.

The co-hosting team went to the event as journalists to record a section for the program that would air the following Tuesday, the show’s producers have emphasized.

When asked what they did incorrectly, Dame Carolyn said during the RTS London Convention.

In all honesty, nothing, she answered. Honestly. They had credentials, indeed. Many individuals claiming they didn’t This Morning commissioned them to write an article on September 20 that was published.

They had to conduct interviews with individuals both inside and outdoors. No one in the line was moved by them. Additionally, they have been grossly distorted.

And for that reason, we issued a statement. Unusual for us, we issued a statement to express all of that. However, it does demonstrate how ideas travel and how false information just does. And for them, it is just terrible.

In response, Dame Carolyn said, “I believe they’re incredibly current and still quite topical, and I think the majority of their viewers enjoy watching them.” She then rejected the notion that they had been “cancelled.”

However, a very harsh voice is speaking against them, which will injure them.

When the couple skipped a line to get a pizza, Domino’s Pizza tweeted a humorous piece about it. Dame Carolyn said she had protested to them.

We asked them what they were doing since we work with Domino’s, to which they said, “We think it is extremely amusing, don’t you?”

They only found that amusing. They failed to consider the effect it would have on how it would be adopted and turned into a meme by others.

They did nothing wrong, but I believe that’s what happens with these situations.

They were surrounded by several other broadcasters, many of whom you are familiar with, as well as numerous press journalists.

Dame Carolyn said that she had contacted both and that they were not “feeling fantastic,” reassuring the pair that their employment at This Morning are safe.

It’s hard, she continued. You may see yourself in this situation—the calm before the storm—trying to maintain your innocence while everyone around you is accusing you of wrongdoing. It’s challenging to manage.

The Love Island presenter replacement for Laura Whitmore was not confirmed by Dame Carolyn during the session.

When asked whether they have chosen their host for the Big Brother revival, she just added: “Not revealed yet.”
