Hlatshwayo officially joins SuperSport United earlier this month

Hlatshwayo officially joined SuperSport United earlier this month, and the former captain of the Pirates and Bafana has already begun working out with his new coach Gavin Hunt.

The former captain of Bafana had notable runs with Ajax Cape Town, Wits, and finally Pirates before being let go earlier this year.

It’s interesting to note that he has already settled in at SuperSport, where he will be coached by newly hired Gavin Hunt.

Hlatshwayo now claims that everything at the Buccaneers changed for him when he made a mistake in the 2-1 loss to the Kaizer Chiefs in November of last year.

“I told everyone in the changing area that I accept full responsibility for the error I made.

I erred and was never given the chance to make things right, but listen, lesson learned,” Hlatshwayo remarked in his most recent interview with Soccer Laduma.

“They weren’t quite sincere. The coaches and I met two days after that game to discuss their plans, and they informed me that they were looking to alter the team. But no change materialised.

He continued by saying that his lack of playing time merely required a clear justification.

“Show me. With me, be direct; I’ll take it. We senior players are supposed to inform a rookie player when anything like that occurs, right? But who needs to communicate with me?

They are the coaches. They must be direct and forthright with me,” he continued.

“Honesty and integrity were nonexistent. I don’t like to criticise other people.

That kind of person is not me. Forget about me as a player; that’s not who I am as a person. But things will make sense eventually.

Regarding the agreement with Hlatshwayo, SuperSport made the following disclosure:

Thulani Hlatshwayo, a former captain of the Bafana Bafana and the Orlando Pirates, has joined SuperSport United on a one-year deal with a renewal option.

After a successful tenure at Bidvest Wits between 2014 and 2020, when he won the league championship and the Telkom-Knock Out trophy, the 32-year-old reunites with head coach Gavin Hunt.

Hlatshwayo has more than 300 domestic matches under his belt, and he captained Bafana Bafana with just over 30 international appearances. He brings a plethora of experience to the club.

The team’s new arrival has the club’s head coach, Gavin Hunt, excited: “Tyson’s signing is a tremendous addition for the club and he comes with a lot of experience.

He served as both my captain at Bidvest Wits and the captain of the Bafana Bafana team.

We won trophies together, and he is unquestionably eager to come back to work.

He has a fantastic opportunity, and so do we at the club.

“SuperSport United is a team that is recognised for winning trophies, and I hope I can share my experience, which means I have to work similarly hard,” continues Thulani Hlatshwayo.

I’ll make sure I earn my spot on the team because there is rivalry among the players, which keeps everyone motivated and keeps the team together.
