H.E. Jean-Claude Kassi Brou steps down as ECOWAS Commission’s management after four years in office

The ECOWAS Commission’s present management, which is now led by H.E. Jean-Claude Kassi Brou, will step down after four years in office.

Tomorrow, July 13, 2022, in the ECOWAS Commission Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria, President Brou will transfer power to a new management led by Dr. Omar Alieu Touray of The Gambia.

Tomorrow will also see the beginning of the tenure of more statutory appointees leading ECOWAS institutions.

On July 3, 2022, in Accra, Ghana, during the just finished 61st Ordinary Session of the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government, the new Statutory appointees were announced. They will hold office for four years.

With the New Management, ECOWAS will reduce its commission from fifteen to seven members.
