Governor Ron DeSantis announces the appointment of four medical personnels to the Board of Medicine

Governor Ron DeSantis announced today (June 17) the appointments of Dr. Amy Derick, Dr. Patrick Hunter, and Nicole Justice to the Board of Medicine, as well as the reappointment of Dr. David Diamond.

Dr. Amy Derick

Derick Dermatology was founded and is owned by Dr. Derick.

She was previously Chair of the Illinois State Medical Disciplinary Board and was elected Advocate of the Year by the American Academy of Dermatology in 2021.

Dr. Derick graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a bachelor’s degree in pre-professional studies and the University of Chicago with a doctorate in medicine.

Dr. David Diamond

Dr. Diamond works at Florida Radiation Oncology as a physician.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology and is board certified by the American Board of Radiology.

He is also a member of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology.

Dr. Diamond graduated from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in biology and the University of Florida with a doctorate in medicine.

Dr. Patrick Hunter

Dr. Hunter is a Clinical Professor at Florida State University’s College of Medicine and a General Pediatrician with Pensacola Pediatrics.

He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a veteran of the United States Army.

Dr. Hunter graduated from Miami University with a bachelor’s degree in zoology, a master’s degree in bioethics from the University of Mary, and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Louisville.

Nicole Justice

Justice is Tampa General Hospital’s Senior Director of Patient Safety.

She is a past Chairman of RISE Tampa’s board and a member of the Florida Society for Healthcare Risk Management and Patient Safety.

Justice graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s degree in management and Seton Hall University’s School of Law with a master’s degree in jurisprudence in health and hospital legislation, as well as pharmaceutical and medical device compliance law.

These appointees are subject to approval by the Florida Senate.
