The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, clarified his stance on President Muhammadu Buhari, stating that his criticism is not driven by personal animosity.

Addressing public perception that he harbors dislike towards President Buhari due to the ongoing armed Fulani attacks in the state, Ortom sought to correct the narrative.

During an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning News, Governor Ortom emphasized that he does not hate President Buhari, highlighting their mutual respect for each other.

He pointed out that he was the first governor the President took to South Africa when he assumed office, stating, “Numerous people believe I’m an enemy of Buhari, but he remains my president till May 29.

All I do is constructive criticism.”

Governor Ortom also touched upon his political career, attributing his rise to divine intervention.

Despite not being considered the most suitable candidate in the 2015 and 2019 elections, he expressed gratitude to God for making him the governor.

Furthermore, Governor Ortom clarified that his concerns primarily revolve around the Fulani herdsmen causing turmoil in the state and not with President Buhari personally.

He reiterated his commitment to addressing the issue, stating, “The issue is just that of Fulani herdsmen causing trouble, and I would continue to agitate.”

In his concluding remarks, Governor Ortom paid tribute to former President Shehu Shagari, recognizing his remarkable leadership during his presidency.

He praised the positive impact of Shagari’s administration and acknowledged Benue State’s enduring appreciation for his contributions.
