Georgia mayor died in a “unavoidable” motocross accident over the weekend

The weekend saw the tragic death of the mayor of a tiny Georgian town in a motocross accident that authorities deemed “unavoidable.”

Perry Bell, 54, of White, Georgia, was murdered after a stunt attempt that went bad Saturday morning, according to reporting by The Daily Tribune News.

The event took place 40 miles north of Bell’s place of employment at the Lazy River Motocross.

Bell was hit by another rider on the course after a jump, according to Murray County Deputy Coroner Jonathan Sosebee.

He was on a jump when he crashed, according to what I hear. He was unable to dodge it because he couldn’t see the cyclist just behind him, according to Sosebee.

Gary Crisp, the interim mayor, told WSB Radio that it was a “freak accident.”

They arrived with a helicopter… He was flown to a trauma facility, but he did not survive. Crisp said that he died gone.

But according to Sosebee, the mayor was too seriously injured to be flown away from the site by aircraft and passed away later at a Chatsworth hospital.

Sosebee said, “It was an inevitable accident.”

According to authorities, the second rider involved likewise suffered just minor wounds.

Additionally, Crisp said to the Georgia radio station that he had known his coworker for a long time and that he loved his neighborhood and the outdoors.

Crisp stated, “He was basically a kind guy who cared about the neighborhood and really wanted to serve the folks that lived here.”

Only three months had passed since the 54-year-old took office for the first time.

Bell won the mayoral race in a primary on May 24 with 53 of the less than 130 votes cast, and was sworn in a month later.

Until a special election is scheduled to replace Bell’s post, Crisp has assumed the job temporarily.

When DailyMail.com contacted White, Georgia municipal authorities, they stated they had “no comment at this time” on the mayor’s passing.

Social media users reacted quickly to the news, recalling the “blessing” of knowing Bell and praising him as “a great friend.”

Perry Bell, RIP. I can hardly believe what I just wrote. Unfortunately, a post can’t adequately express this man in its whole.

A real buddy and so much more,’ said Roy Cicola, a friend, on Facebook. Please be patient with me since my emotions are fresh. This man is an ICON! In such a little time, he did so much.

White resident Anthony Moss said that the mayor’s passing had left the neighborhood in shock and that things would never be the same.

Everyone takes a big blow from it, according to Moss.

It’s unknown whether the 54-year-old left behind a spouse or children.

According to MX-Gear.com, injuries suffered on a dirtbike circuit may be quite frequent.

One of those activities and pastimes where the chances are a little against you is dirt bike riding and racing. A post about the sport states, “A collision or accident is sure to occur at some time.

Over a 12-year period, there were more than 1,870 rider injuries that were reported, most of which involved the upper extremities.

Concussions and broken arms and wrists are a few of the most frequent ailments motocross riders sustain.
