The weekend saw the tragic death of the mayor of a tiny Georgian town in a motocross accident that authorities deemed “unavoidable.”
Perry Bell, 54, of White, Georgia, was murdered after a stunt attempt that went bad Saturday morning, according to reporting by The Daily Tribune News.
The event took place 40 miles north of Bell’s place of employment at the Lazy River Motocross.
Bell was hit by another rider on the course after a jump, according to Murray County Deputy Coroner Jonathan Sosebee.

Gary Crisp, the interim mayor, told WSB Radio that it was a “freak accident.”

Bell won the mayoral race in a primary on May 24 with 53 of the less than 130 votes cast, and was sworn in a month later.
Until a special election is scheduled to replace Bell’s post, Crisp has assumed the job temporarily.
When DailyMail.com contacted White, Georgia municipal authorities, they stated they had “no comment at this time” on the mayor’s passing.
Social media users reacted quickly to the news, recalling the “blessing” of knowing Bell and praising him as “a great friend.”

White resident Anthony Moss said that the mayor’s passing had left the neighborhood in shock and that things would never be the same.
Everyone takes a big blow from it, according to Moss.
It’s unknown whether the 54-year-old left behind a spouse or children.
