Gateway Tire is expanding in Dothan with a $9 million expansion
DOTHAN, Alabama — Today, Gateway Tire announced plans to invest $9 million to expand its Dothan distribution hub as part of a growth initiative that would result in the creation of 30 jobs at the Houston County factory.
Beginning in 2017, this project will add 100,000 square feet to Gateway Tire’s current 200,000-square-foot warehouse in Westgate Industrial Park. The initial project in Dothan required an investment of $11 million.
“The distribution/logistics sector is one of the cornerstone business priorities of Alabama’s comprehensive strategic economic development endeavor,” stated Greg Canfield, Alabama Department of Commerce Secretary.
“The Gateway Tire expansion project exemplifies how our team recruits new investment, as we did when the company chose Dothan in 2017, and how we continue to support their growth over the years.”

SUPPORTING GROWTH
According to Bryan Dismukes, general manager of Gateway Tire, the company’s expansion project is made feasible by widespread community and state support.
Dismukes thanked the State of Alabama, the City of Dothan, Houston, the Industrial Development Board of the City of Dothan, and the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce/Grow Dothan for their ongoing support of the company’s growth and success.
Dunlap & Kyle Inc., a Batesville, Mississippi-based wholesale and retail tire distributor, operates Gateway Tire.
Officials in Dothan applauded the company’s growth ambitions.
Mayor Mark Saliba and Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver said in a joint statement, “Gateway Tire has been a wonderful addition to our community, and we are delighted to be a part of their continued growth and development in Dothan and the Wiregrass.”
